The River Remembers will be featured at the 2026 Free the Snake Flotilla, a two-day gathering led by Nimíipuu Protecting the Environment at Hells Gate State Park on the banks of the Snake River in Lewiston, Idaho. The film will screen outdoors on Friday evening as part of a gathering centered on salmon recovery, Tribal leadership, and healing the Snake River.

The screening is especially meaningful because it brings the lessons and stories of the Elwha and Klamath dam removals into a community actively working toward restoration of the lower Snake River and recovery of Columbia Basin salmon. The following day, participants will take to the river for the flotilla, followed by a welcoming blessing, salmon lunch, community partners, Tribal speakers, and a closing blessing, song, and drums.

This is exactly the kind of impact opportunity we hoped The River Remembers could create: bringing a story of what is possible when rivers are restored directly into communities carrying forward their own work for salmon, sovereignty, and future generations.
